Essay about space!
Space
By Tatyanah McCallum
Space is a wonderful thing, Space is also huge. It is bigger than anything you just name it and its bigger than that! One of our major components to living on earth is the sun. The planets orbit the sun. The seasons on earth Spring, summer, fall and winter all occur how the earth is tilting.
The sun is something that we need, with a capital N. The sun helps us with a lot of things like light, heat, wind, ocean currents and many many other things. The sun is just a huge star. It is also a big source of energy. Without the sun no living thing can live on earth, such as animals, humans, plants and insects, because it would be too dark and cold and we wouldn't have any heat. The center of the sun is about 27 million degrees F', 15 million degrees Celsius. It has the most gravity than any other planet, that gravity keeps, indeed the other planets in place; without the sun's gravity the planets would fall.
There are 8 planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. These are all in order from the closet to the sun. Pluto used to be a planet but isn't considered a planet anymore because it is basically just ice. Most of the planets have two or three moons circling it. It takes Earth 365.25 days to travel around the sun. You weigh different on other planets; on Earth I weigh 95 pounds but on Mars I weigh 35.5 pounds! Planets are large things in space, space is made up of various sized things. Jupiter and Mars are the biggest planets. Saturn has a lot more moons while Earth only has one!
Here are some cool facts about earth! Earth is the 3rd planet from the sun and the 4th smallest, Earth rotates 1,031 miles per hour, Earth is the only planet with known life, Earth is covered 3 quarters of water, witch is why earth is blue from space,The Earth's atmosphere protects us from the sun's rays, In 24 hours makes a whole rotation- one earth day, no other planet has water except Venus, but Venus on rains,
The first man to EVER been on the moon was Neil Armstrong on July 20 1969!! :)
The seasons Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter all happen because of how Earth is tilting. When we (Canada) have winter the Northern part ,the southern parts gets summer, because of how the sun is tilting. During winter the sun is in the south. In summer the sun is in the north, Which makes the sun more intense. The first day of summer is June 20th or 21st, and the first day winter is december 21st or 22nd, Spring March 21st or 22nd, Fall September 22nd or 23rd.
Space is a very amazing thing, once you release how big and how cool it really is you would want to study it to!
Space isn't just a thing out of the middle of no where, its a BIG part of our universe; we need space or we couldn't live on earth or anywhere to be exact. Its a great thing to study and to learn because it is a big part of our universe.
